My father was Neil Banks who lived in Bowhill and emigrated to Denniston, New Zealand in 1929. His father was Henry Banks (1967-1940) and mother Euphemia Herd King (1870-1957), both died in Nelson, New Zealand. We are related to King, Arnott, Herd, Eadie, Munro, Barron/Barns and Templeman families. I am interseted in any information on the Banks family and coal mining life at Bowhill before they left in 1929. Thanks

I am researching my family - the Smiths of St Monans and before the 1700s, from Abercrombie. One David Smith was married to Amelia Stevenson in 1807 and I have been unable to find any information about her death. She was born 1787 in Pittenweem.
Also, I'd be interested to hear of anyone wanting to share information collected about the Smith family (all fishermen since 1780s and mainly called David) and I'd be pleased to share what I've found.:)

I was interested in Andrew Arbuckle's book 'We waved to the Baker' as my ancestor was a baker in Ansruther in 1851 I believe. Can you tell me more, or how to contact the author?

My great-grandparents, Henry Ramsay and Christina Whitehead emigrated to Canada from Freuchie in the 1850's. Some confusion about Christina's brothers and sisters - children of James Whitehead and Margaret Laing. A sister of Christina married Robert Wilson and their son, Gilbert Wilson, lived in Markinch. Any info?

I am a member of the Glasgow and West of Scotland F.H.S., and wonder if I might make an appeal using your "guestbook", please:

Mr John Taylor was living in Wellesley Road, Buckhaven, when, in March 1928, his daughter was a fellow-passenger of my maternal grandfather, on board the SS Athenia - both being bound for Regina,in Saskatchewan, Canada.

I am very keen to make contact with any of Mr Fowler's descendants, who might have photographs taken during the trip.

My sincere thanks.

My grandfather Andrew Robertson was on the Buckhaven lifeboat. Does anybody have any information on the lifeboat crew. My mother Betsy Robertson was born in one of the harbour cottages in 1919 so presumably this was after that date. Just starting to trace my mother's side of the family and getting info. Can anybody help. .
